Set down your bags and come recharge in the heart of breathtaking nature.
Here, you can slow down, take in the landscapes, and simply listen to the birdsong…
We live in the countryside, halfway between the Atlantic Ocean and the Pyrenees mountains, surrounded by unspoiled nature: rolling hills, woodlands, fields, and pastures. A true haven of peace, far from the bustle of the world.
Our home is located near a charming medieval bastide, a lovely village offering all essential amenities (shops, bank, sports facilities). This rural area also offers a rich variety of cultural activities (museum, historical monuments, cinema, concerts, performances, local festivities…).
My name is Kala (Christel), and together with my husband Midou, we welcome you into our peaceful corner of nature with warmth and authenticity.
We have over 10 years of experience hosting young people through child welfare services (from Algeria, China, Guinea, Pakistan), as well as international exchange students (from Denmark, Finland, and Peru). Last year, we also hosted two language immersion stays, which were a wonderful experience for everyone involved.
We love human connection, art in all its forms, herbalism (for Kala), and philosophical discussions (for Midou). I strive to cultivate balance in my daily life, with particular attention to healthy, nourishing food and the search for beauty, which I find essential in today’s world.
Beauty is everywhere: in words, images, colors, music, and sensations — the wind on your skin, the warmth of the sun… Nature brings me peace and wonder.
My hobbies include: reading (to learn or escape), dancing, listening to music, walking, photography, visiting friends over tea, theatre, sewing, cooking, and making incense.
I hold two university diplomas in sociocultural animation and library sciences, as well as a DAEFLE (Diploma in Teaching French as a Foreign Language).
I have a basic level in English, Spanish, and Occitan (a regional language of Southern France), and some knowledge of Arabic, Italian, and German.
After working as an activity leader and librarian, I now teach French to learners of all levels. I first started teaching informally with the young people we hosted, and since 2023 I have been working as a professional French teacher.
I am constantly exploring new teaching methods and approaches, and I draw on my experience in animation and theatre to make lessons engaging, lively, and motivating.
I welcome you with a focus on well-being — because we learn best when we feel relaxed and happy.
I adapt French lessons to your needs and your learning style, because everyone learns differently.
Nature is beautiful in every season, and walks are highly recommended!
You may explore the area with our donkey, or discover local flora (orchids, edible and medicinal plants). After a walk, we can continue with workshops such as making herbal syrups, balms, or incense.
If you enjoy taking care of both body and mind, we can try laughter yoga, do a gentle Pilates session (similar to yoga), or enjoy a massage at a nearby spa.
If you love animals, we can visit friends who run farms (donkeys, angora goats, animal parks).
If you are interested in architecture and history, we can take you on a guided tour of a beautiful medieval bastide.
If you enjoy gastronomy, we can visit a wine cellar with tasting (wine or Armagnac), and you can also take part in preparing meals — including delicious pizzas baked in our traditional bread oven!
And of course, evenings can be spent enjoying films, storytelling, board games, billiards, or simply wandering under the stars and exploring the beauty of the Milky Way.
Some of these activities are included, while others may require an additional fee.
To immerse oneself in the French language is to enter a world where every word carries the weight of history, every conversation reveals a culture, and every day becomes a discovery of the soul. —Maya Angelou
