Tucked away in the heart of the Haute Vallée de Chevreuse Regional Nature Park, Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse is a picturesque town that captures the quiet elegance of Paris’s southwestern outskirts. Surrounded by lush state forests and threaded by the tranquil Yvette River, it offers a unique blend of natural beauty and small-town charm. The town’s cobbled lanes, meulière stone houses, and flower-filled gardens are complemented by artisan bakeries, gourmet grocers, and cozy cafés that reflect a deep-rooted sense of local tradition.
The vibrant weekly market and numerous artisan workshops bring authenticity to everyday life, while cultural and sporting events foster a strong sense of community. The town is home to a media library, a lively cultural center, and various sports facilities, making it ideal for families and creatives alike.
Well-connected to Paris by the RER B (just 35 minutes to the city center), Saint-Rémy offers the best of both worlds: peaceful countryside living with effortless urban access. Outdoor enthusiasts will find over 200 km of marked trails that meander through forests and fields, leading to historic sites like the medieval Château de la Madeleine and the serene ruins of the Vaux-de-Cernay Abbey. Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse is not just a place to live—it’s a place to breathe, explore, and belong.
My name is Georgiana. I’ll be your French tutor, language partner, and host during your immersion stay in France.
I live in Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse, a charming village in the Paris countryside. I hold degrees in Modern Literature and in Teaching French as a Foreign Language from the Sorbonne, and I’ve been teaching French for over 20 years.
As a tutor, I’m patient, warm, and attentive to each student’s needs and goals. I speak several languages, including English, which helps me adapt my teaching to your background. I aim to make learning both effective and enjoyable.
I love nature, hiking, cycling, and healthy cooking with seasonal, organic food. I’m also passionate about art, literature, and French history, and I enjoy organizing cultural outings tailored to your interests.
I’m a certified naturopath as well, and I’d be happy to share my knowledge of herbal remedies with you, if you’re curious.
At home, my husband (an IT engineer) and I live with our four children—two young adults and twin 8-year-olds. Hosting guests has long been part of our family life, and everyone contributes to a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
We enjoy sharing meals and conversation, and our friends and relatives love to meet our guests too. Whether you’re into nature, music, cooking, or culture, I’ll make sure your stay is as rich and personal as possible.
I began my teaching career as a primary school teacher, where I taught for three years before moving on to secondary education. I then spent five years teaching French in middle school, gaining valuable classroom experience and deepening my understanding of language acquisition.
After this, I decided to specialize in French as a Foreign Language (FLE)—a field I’ve been passionate about and dedicated to for the past 22 years. I currently teach FLE in several formats: as a university lecturer in evening classes at Paris-Saclay, as an immersion teacher during the day from my home in the beautiful Vallée de Chevreuse, and also online, a format I’ve embraced since the COVID pandemic.
What drives me most is the joy of sharing knowledge. I love the richness of adult-to-adult interaction, where learning becomes a true exchange of cultures and perspectives. My diverse background—spanning traditional academic settings, personalized immersion programs, and online teaching—allows me to adapt to each learner’s needs with warmth, rigor, and enthusiasm.
If you’re looking for a French immersion experience rooted in deep pedagogical expertise and enriched by authentic cultural exchange, I would be delighted to welcome you.
Your Homestay & Activities
Your stay begins with a welcome session to get to know you, understand your personal goals and interests, and includes a placement test to tailor your French learning journey
Mornings are primarily dedicated to personalized French lessons, tailored to your level and goals, typically held in a relaxed, one-on-one format. These sessions focus on practical communication, grammar, vocabulary, and oral expression. They are followed by a variety of immersive activities: guided discussions on local history and natural heritage, vocabulary exploration of regional flora and fauna during forest hikes, hands-on involvement in preparing and tasting artisanal products (goat cheeses, regional specialties), and conversation workshops based on authentic everyday situations in the Chevreuse Valley.
Afternoons are reserved for cultural and outdoor excursions: guided tours of Port-Royal-des-Champs Abbey, visit to the The Marta Pan and André Wogenscky Foundation, visit tot the Pierre Coubertin Foundation, visit to the Château de Breteuil or to the Château de Dampierre, hikes up to the Château de la Madeleine for panoramic views, and walks along the Jean Racine trail through villages and bucolic landscapes. According to your preferences, trips to Paris (museums, concerts, theater performances) can be arranged via the nearby RER B, as well as outdoor activities such as mountain biking, horseback riding, golf, or independent discovery of local markets, festivals, and events to continue learning at your own pace.
To immerse oneself in the French language is to enter a world where every word carries the weight of history, every conversation reveals a culture, and every day becomes a discovery of the soul. —Maya Angelou
