Blois is a royal city located on the banks of the Loire, the longest river in France. Situated in the heart of the Loire Valley, it has a train station and is easily accessible from Paris.
Fifteen kilometers from Chambord and Chaumont-sur-Loire (and their gardens), and close to numerous other castles, Blois is an ideal departure point for cultural and tourist excursions. Its relatively mild climate, typical restaurants, and warm atmosphere make it a suitable place for relaxation.
The “Loire à Vélo” cycle route, designed to explore the region by bicycle, offers a nature-focused discovery perspective.
I was a primary school teacher for 20 years and obtained the DAEFLE in 2022 at the Alliance Française in Paris. Since then, I have been teaching French as a Foreign Language with great pleasure and passion. Travels and intercultural exchanges have enabled me to reach a B1 level in English, and I am currently taking German courses.
After earning a Master’s degree in Law, I taught economics and law in Nouméa, New Caledonia, before settling in Blois—a royal city in the heart of the Loire Valley, 15 km from the magnificent Château de Chambord and the Château de Chaumont-sur-Loire with its gardens. Passionate about history, this beautiful region, rich in exceptional heritage, has allowed me to expand my knowledge and satisfy my curiosity. Travels and intercultural exchanges have enabled me to reach a B1 level in English, and I am currently taking German courses.
An immersion stay at my home, “Clos Jardin,” offers you the opportunity to benefit from French lessons and a personalized program using an action-oriented, dynamic method tailored to your goals and interests, while discovering French culture. Visits to a château, a museum or a garden, exploring local markets, cycling along the Loire, canoeing down the river, taking walks, enjoying regional cuisine and even tasting fine local wines are all occasions to experience French culture while practising the language.
You are welcome in my home, where the flowers and plants in my garden will allow us, in the warmer season, to share convivial, cultural and playful moments – in French, of course—that I hope will inspire you to return!
Blois offers a variety of cultural and outdoor experiences. Visit Château de Blois and its Fine Arts Museum, explore Maison de la Magie and its dragons, stroll through Bishop’s Gardens, admire Saint-Louis Cathedral, and descend the Denis Papin staircases with their panoramic views over the city.
Outdoor enthusiasts can cycle along Loire à Vélo or experience the river by canoe or from a hot-air balloon, each option providing a fresh perspective on the Loire and surrounding landscapes.
In the vicinity, explore Château de Chambord, Château de Cheverny, and Chaumont-sur-Loire and its garden festival. The charming town of Amboise invites visits to Château d’Amboise and Clos Lucé, Leonardo da Vinci’s former residence. A short trip leads to Tours, where the historic center and museums offer additional discoveries.
Annual events enliven the region: attend Rendez-Vous de l’Histoire, enjoy the BD Boum comics festival, taste local specialties at Bouchon blésois, celebrate music during Fête de la Musique, and admire July 14 fireworks in Blois and Amboise. These activities combine history, culture, nature, and festivities, making Blois and its surroundings an ideal destination.
To immerse oneself in the French language is to enter a world where every word carries the weight of history, every conversation reveals a culture, and every day becomes a discovery of the soul. —Maya Angelou
