Nestled between Paris and Dijon, the town of Auxerre stands out for its authenticity and rich heritage. Located just a short distance from Chablis—world-renowned for its exceptional white wines—Auxerre combines history, culture and an enhanced quality of life.
Wander its cobblestone streets lined with half-timbered houses, admire the stunning Gothic cathedral of Saint-Étienne, and savour the convivial atmosphere along the banks of the Yonne. Whether you are a wine enthusiast, a history buff or simply seeking a tranquil retreat, Auxerre offers a distinctive charm at the heart of Burgundy.
My name is Anna, and I’m a passionate teacher of French as a foreign language. I invite you to enjoy a full immersion stay in our charming family home, located right in the center of Auxerre—a beautiful historic town in the Burgundy region of France.
Together with my husband Jérôme, an antique dealer and trained chef, our daughter Nastia (6 years old), our dog Stella, and our cat Léon, we form a lively and welcoming family. With us, you’ll be treated like one of our own, in a warm, joyful, and inspiring atmosphere.
With over 20 years of experience teaching French as a Foreign Language, I have developed a strong foundation in language pedagogy, both in academic institutions and cultural centers such as universities and Alliances Françaises. I hold a PhD in Language Didactics and a Master’s degree in Linguistics from France, and I am certified to administer the DELF and DALF exams. My international teaching journey — particularly in Russia and France — has given me the opportunity to work with a wide variety of learners, especially adult students, in both in-person and remote settings.
Passionnante about intercultural exchange and active learning, I design immersive learning experiences that go beyond traditional instruction. I believe in creating meaningful, human-centered environments where students feel empowered to express themselves, explore language through culture, and develop autonomy. My interactions with learners are rooted in empathy, creativity, and encouragement — values that continue to guide my work as a teacher, mentor, and lifelong learner.
Summary of Educational and Professional Background
I am an experienced instructor in French as a Foreign Language (FLE), with over twenty years of teaching in diverse settings both in France and abroad, particularly in Russia. My background includes adult education (immigrants, university students, online learners) as well as academic positions (lecturer, researcher in FLE didactics). I have solid expertise in DELF/DALF exam preparation, and the integration of digital tools into language learning.
An 18th-Century Home Full of Charm and Stories
We live in a charming 18th-century house filled with history and vintage treasures. It’s also home to our tearoom and antique shop, where students can practice French over tea or coffee, surrounded by beautiful objects from the past. A cozy, poetic setting—ideal for relaxed learning.
A Personalized and Immersive Learning Experience
My teaching style is warm, communicative, and fully tailored to your needs. Lessons are woven into everyday life: chatting over meals, exploring town, or practicing real-life scenarios. Every moment becomes a chance to improve your French naturally and enjoyably.
Living French Through Local Culture and Food
My husband Jérôme, a trained chef, offers cooking workshops where you’ll prepare Burgundy classics like boeuf bourguignon, gougères, and French onion soup. A delicious way to immerse yourself in local culture! From March to October, we also go treasure hunting at flea markets and visit the famous Chablis vineyards, with tastings and scenic walks. Dijon and even Paris are just two hours away by train—perfect for a day trip full of culture and discovery.
A Truly Enriching Stay
Your stay with us is more than a language course—it’s an authentic French experience. Learn, connect, and explore Burgundy while feeling at home.
We look forward to welcoming you and sharing this unforgettable adventure!
To immerse oneself in the French language is to enter a world where every word carries the weight of history, every conversation reveals a culture, and every day becomes a discovery of the soul. —Maya Angelou
