At the gateway to Provence, bathed in sunshine and caressed by the mistral wind, Montélimar is a small town that combines Provençal charm, historical heritage, and a gourmet lifestyle. Renowned as the capital of nougat, it charms visitors with its authenticity and the richness of its surroundings.
Montélimar also boasts a remarkable historical and architectural heritage. The Château des Adhémar, a medieval fortress overlooking the town, tells centuries of history and now hosts contemporary art exhibitions. The narrow streets of the old town invite you to stroll among mansions, shaded squares, and lively terraces.
Located between the Rhône and the foothills of Provence, Montélimar is the ideal base for exploring the region. Hiking and cycling enthusiasts will be in their element: the ViaRhôna, part of the EuroVelo 17 route, passes through the town and allows you to explore the Rhône valley at your own pace, taking in vineyards, villages, and exceptional landscapes. Nearby, the hills of the Drôme offer hiking trails scented with lavender, while the nearby Ardèche boasts spectacular gorges, ideal for canoeing, swimming, or simply unforgettable walks.
Montélimar promises a stay where every moment tastes of Provence: gentle, sunny, and generous.
Born in the heart of Auvergne, I slowly drifted south—first through Lyon, and finally settling in sunny Montélimar, in the beautiful Drôme region of southern France. I’m a proud mom of three grown sons and a joyful grandmother of five little adventurers.
Teaching and sharing knowledge have always been at the core of who I am. After a long and fulfilling career within the French National Education system, I am now embracing an active and passionate retirement. Curious, energetic, and always on the move, I love combining my passions for outdoor activities (hiking, cycling, cultural discoveries) with my love for the French language and culture.
My husband Philippe shares my love for human connection and warm hospitality. Together, we turn every outing into a moment of laughter, discovery, and genuine connection. Our family home in Montélimar is full of life—echoing with the laughter of loved ones, lively conversations under the wisteria-covered terrace over an apéritif, and joyful splashes around the pool.
Because here, we truly believe that life’s pleasures are meant to be shared.
For over 20 years, I worked as a schoolteacher across all grade levels, both in cities and rural villages. In the last five years, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to teach all over the world: Morocco, Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal, Egypt, and Cyprus.
In 2018, I earned my DAEFLE diploma (Teaching French as a Foreign Language) and began teaching adults and international newcomers to France, as well as training fellow educators. I’ve also mentored young teachers and served as an official examiner for the DELF and DALF certifications at the Alliance Française of Lyon.
These experiences gave me a rich perspective, an open mind, and a deep passion for teaching French in a lively, engaging, and personalized way—always with warmth and good humor.
Each stay is built around an active, friendly, and immersive pedagogy. Part of the day is dedicated to interactive French workshops, either one-on-one or in a very small group. The focus is on speaking, listening, and practical vocabulary that you can immediately use in real life. Role-plays in cafés, local markets, or guided visits reinforce learning in authentic contexts.
Beyond language sessions, you’ll enjoy a variety of cultural discoveries and outdoor activities. Stroll through Provençal markets, taste regional specialties, visit charming hilltop villages of the Drôme, and explore medieval heritage through castles and cobbled streets. For outdoor lovers, Montélimar is a true playground: hiking trails, cycling trips along the ViaRhôna or through lavender fields, canoeing and swimming in the Ardèche Gorges — every day is an adventure.
These immersive experiences strengthen your French skills in real situations and offer a total immersion into the French art de vivre.
Choosing an immersion stay in Montélimar means learning French differently: living the language every day, sharing convivial moments, discovering a rich cultural heritage, and enjoying the wide open spaces of Provence. It’s the assurance of fast, effective, and unforgettable learning, in an authentic Provençal setting where culture, nature, and human connection come together.
To immerse oneself in the French language is to enter a world where every word carries the weight of history, every conversation reveals a culture, and every day becomes a discovery of the soul. —Maya Angelou
