Welcome to the breathtaking region of Occitanie, in the heart of southern France, where the Mediterranean meets the majestic Pyrénées-Orientales. My home is nestled in the charming seaside village of Le Barcarès, a picturesque destination known for its golden beaches, vibrant markets, and rich cultural heritage. Ideally located, it offers easy access to Perpignan, Narbonne, and even Barcelona, making it the perfect base for exploring both French and Spanish treasures. Whether you arrive by train, plane, or car, you’ll find yourself immersed in an authentic French experience with stunning landscapes, a mild climate, and a welcoming atmosphere.
Le Barcarès is a paradise for nature lovers, history enthusiasts, and foodies alike. From scenic hikes in the foothills of Mount Canigou to wine tastings in the renowned Roussillon vineyards, every day is an opportunity to discover something new. Explore the medieval charm of Collioure, visit the legendary Cathar castles, or take a dip in the natural hot springs of Font-Romeu. Just a short drive away, Spain awaits with its vibrant culture and the world-famous Dalí Museum in Figueres. My home, located in the heart of the village, is just a two-minute walk from the beach and local shops, while a scenic greenway along the Agly River invites you to cycle or stroll with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.
Born in Perpignan to a family of winemakers, I have always been deeply connected to my region. My family’s vineyard, located just 30 minutes away in the heart of the Cathar country, reflects the rich heritage and traditions that shape this beautiful part of France. After spending 33 years teaching communication in higher education in Bourges, I returned to my roots to pursue my passion for teaching French as a Foreign Language (FLE). For nearly three years, I have been dedicated to helping students improve their French through immersive, engaging, and personalized experiences.
Hosting students for immersion is more than just teaching—it’s a true pleasure. I love sharing my culture, my language, and the beauty of my region. With a strong belief in the power of sociocultural education, I offer more than just lessons; I create meaningful connections that make learning natural and enjoyable. As an avid traveler who speaks Spanish, English, and German, I am passionate about cultural exchange, especially through gastronomy and local traditions. Over the past three years, I have welcomed students from around the world—Switzerland, Germany, Ukraine, the Philippines, Taiwan, the United States—each experience enriching and inspiring, regardless of age, background, or level.
Time flies during an immersion stay, thanks to a perfect balance of structured learning and engaging activities. Mornings are dedicated to lessons and exercises, while afternoons are filled with cultural visits or outdoor activities. Evenings offer a chance to relax with movies, board games, or social gatherings with friends and family. Everyday tasks like grocery shopping and meal preparation also become learning opportunities, ensuring full immersion in the French language and culture. The schedule is carefully tailored to each student’s preferences, with built-in free time for rest and personal exploration.
My teaching method is based on authentic materials to make learning both practical and engaging. One of the first activities often includes a visit to the local tourism office, where we gather brochures and maps to plan upcoming excursions together. Depending on the student’s comfort with digital tools, I integrate videos, interactive content like Le Français avec TV5MONDE, and traditional learning resources such as the Inspire textbook. Lessons alternate between listening to French radio, reading newspapers, and watching news broadcasts to develop all aspects of language comprehension and expression. Hands-on activities, artistic workshops, and participation in local events—like conversation meetups at the Perpignan library—further enrich the experience, making learning both dynamic and enjoyable.
To immerse oneself in the French language is to enter a world where every word carries the weight of history, every conversation reveals a culture, and every day becomes a discovery of the soul. —Maya Angelou
