Often called the Venice of the Alps, Annecy is a charming and vibrant town, known for its canals, flower-lined streets, and pastel-colored houses. Its legendary blue lake offers swimming in the summer, paddleboarding, or simply relaxing on one of the many picturesque beaches. The surrounding mountains provide countless hiking opportunities for all fitness levels — whether you prefer a gentle walk along the lakeside or a more adventurous mountain trail, there’s something for everyone.
Annecy is also very bike-friendly, with a scenic cycle path running all along the lake, perfect for leisurely rides or more athletic outings. The historic old town, with its lively markets, artisanal shops, and delicious local cuisine, is a delight to explore and a perfect setting for practicing everyday French in real-life situations.
Throughout the year, Annecy hosts cultural events and festivals that add to its unique charm — all in a breathtaking natural setting that inspires both relaxation and conversation.
My name is Manuelle and I’ve been teaching French as a foreign language for over 25 years, with a particular passion for creative, immersive approaches. After living in Moscow for 17 years, where I taught in both prestigious language schools and private settings, I now reside in the charming town of Annecy. My teaching is deeply shaped by my international experience and my theatrical background — I often use drama techniques to boost students’ confidence and help them embody the rhythm, sounds, and gestures of the French language. I’ve worked with companies like Ubisoft and Airbus, language schools like IFALPES, and associations such as Weavers, adapting my methods to diverse cultural and professional contexts.
In Annecy, I continue to lead French courses that blend conversation, pronunciation, and creative expression. I regularly organize weekly French-through-theatre workshops, where students co-write and perform original plays — a powerful way to internalize vocabulary and idiomatic expressions. I am currently completing a Master’s degree in FLE at CAVILAM – Université Clermont-Ferrand, and I’ve also trained at the Festival d’Avignon on integrating theatre into language learning. Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced learner, I focus on making every lesson a meaningful, joyful, and culturally rich experience.
I offer a private bedroom in my spacious 100 m² apartment, which includes a shared kitchen and living room. There is one bathroom and toilet, shared with the household. The apartment has four rooms and three separate bedrooms, and is located on the first floor of a traditional Savoyard family house, designed by my great-grandfather. The house has four floors, with
just one apartment per floor. We’re part of a quiet, family-oriented residence with a small garden — perfect for relaxing, sunbathing, or enjoying a picnic.
My two grown-up children — a 17-year-old daughter and a 20-year-old son — are part of the family and may come to visit when they are available, so you might have the chance to meet them during your immersion stay.
As part of your stay, I offer French lessons tailored to your level and interests:

Additionally, I offer specialized courses in general culture, French history, and art history. As a specialist in Russian culture and art, I bring my 17 years of experience living in Moscow to offer a unique perspective on Russian artistic heritage. I left Moscow during the Ukrainian invasion, and I now bring this wealth of knowledge to my classes.
I also offer the possibility of learning music, including piano and guitar, on your own, or I can help connect you with a professional instructor if preferred.
Beyond the visual arts, I am personally involved in various theater groups, both as an amateur actress and as a director and acting coach for a group of foreign students studying French through theater.
To immerse oneself in the French language is to enter a world where every word carries the weight of history, every conversation reveals a culture, and every day becomes a discovery of the soul. —Maya Angelou
