FAQ

Got Questions? We've Got Answers.

A French Immersion Homestay is a unique opportunity to live and learn with a qualified French teacher in their home. You’ll be fully immersed in the French language and culture—learning in context, through everyday interactions, customized lessons, and cultural experiences. It’s the fastest and most authentic way to improve your French!

All our teachers are qualified French professionals, passionate about teaching and experienced in hosting international learners. Each host is carefully selected for their teaching skills, hospitality, and ability to adapt to your language goals. You’ll stay in a welcoming and safe environment that feels like home.

Our immersion homes are located in beautiful and diverse regions across France and sometimes other French-speaking areas (Belgium, Switzerland, etc.). Whether you prefer the countryside, the coast, or a historic city, we’ll help match you with the perfect destination and teacher based on your preferences and goals.

You can stay for as little as one week or as long as several weeks, depending on your availability and objectives. Many students choose 1–2 weeks for a boost, but longer stays offer deeper learning and greater confidence in speaking French.

All levels are welcome—from complete beginners to advanced speakers. Your teacher will tailor the program to your level and needs, ensuring that you progress at your own pace and feel supported at every stage.

Our online French lessons are one-on-one, live video sessions with your dedicated FITH teacher. Each lesson is 60 minutes long and completely tailored to your level, goals, and interests. Whether you’re preparing for a trip, brushing up your skills, or starting from scratch, our personalized approach ensures meaningful progress.

Yes, absolutely! Our online lessons are open to everyone—whether or not you plan to travel. Many students use them as a standalone course, and others combine them with an immersion stay for faster results.

They give you a solid foundation—linguistically and culturally—before you arrive. You’ll learn key expressions, practice real-life dialogues, and get to know your immersion teacher in advance (if matched with the same teacher), so you feel more confident and relaxed from day one.

Travel & Practical Questions

We do not provide visa support or travel arrangement services. Students are responsible for obtaining the correct visa (if required) and organizing their travel with local providers in their home country.
We are happy to provide a formal booking confirmation or invitation letter if needed for your visa application, but the process must be handled independently.

It depends on the host and location. Some teachers offer pickup from the nearest train station or airport as part of your package or for a small additional fee. We’ll clarify the available options once your homestay is confirmed. If needed, we can also suggest the best route to reach your host.

Yes, we strongly recommend that you purchase appropriate travel and health insurance before your trip. FITH does not provide insurance coverage. Please arrange this through a trusted provider in your home country to ensure you’re protected in case of illness, delays, or cancellations.

No problem! Our hosts can accommodate most dietary preferences or restrictions (vegetarian, gluten-free, allergies, etc.), as long as you let us know in advance during the booking process. Your safety and comfort are important to us.

Yes, we do accept minors (generally 12+), but only with written parental consent and with a tailored program. We take great care in matching young learners with experienced, family-friendly teachers. In some cases, we may require that the parent accompany the minor during the stay.
